Community Manager

Manage Fluxer's social media presence and communities on and off platform, helping our user base grow and feel heard.

About the role

We're looking for a community manager to be the bridge between Fluxer and the people who use it. You'll run our social channels, support our communities on Fluxer and other platforms, and help shape how we communicate with users. This role combines creative storytelling with practical community operations.

Fluxer is open source and community-driven at its core. Our users are vocal, thoughtful, and deeply invested in the product. You'll make sure they feel heard, informed, and part of where we're headed.

What you'll do

  • Manage Fluxer's social media accounts across platforms (including Bluesky)
  • Run and moderate official Fluxer communities on-platform and elsewhere
  • Create clear, engaging content: announcements, feature highlights, changelogs, and community spotlights
  • Respond to community feedback and route product suggestions to the right teams
  • Organise community events, AMAs, and feedback sessions
  • Monitor community sentiment and surface key trends and concerns to the team
  • Collaborate with engineering and design on public-facing communication

What we're looking for

  • 1+ year of experience in community management, social media management, or a similar role
  • Excellent written communication skills in English
  • Strong understanding of online communities and the dynamics that make them thrive (or not)
  • Experience managing social media accounts for a product, brand, or organisation
  • Ability to stay calm and empathetic when handling frustrated or upset users
  • Familiarity with chat and messaging platforms (Fluxer, Discord, Slack, or similar)

Nice to have

  • Experience with open source communities
  • Familiarity with content creation tools (image editing, short-form video)
  • Understanding of the chat/messaging space and its competitive landscape
  • Additional language skills beyond English
  • Experience with community analytics and reporting tools
