About this future role
This role is not currently open. We keep this page to show the community work we may hire for later, and we accept applications now for a future hiring round.
When this role opens, the community lead will look after the relationship between Fluxer and the people who use it. You'll shape the tone of our public voice, run our social channels, look after our communities on-platform and off, and turn user signal into something the product team can actually do something with.
Fluxer is open source, and the community around it is a big part of why the product is what it is. We care about that a lot, and we want someone who cares the same way. Your job is to make sure people feel heard, kept in the loop, and excited about where things are going.
What you'll do
- Run Fluxer's social presence across platforms (including Bluesky), in a voice that feels like ours
- Look after our official communities on-platform and elsewhere, including moderation and the culture around them
- Write the things people actually want to read: announcements, feature highlights, changelogs, and community spotlights
- Listen, and route what you hear back into product, design, and engineering with enough context to be useful
- Organise community events, AMAs, and feedback sessions that feel genuine, not performative
- Keep an eye on sentiment and gently flag trends and concerns to the team before they grow
- Team up with engineering and design on anything user-facing we put out into the world
What we're looking for
- 1+ year in community management, social media, developer relations, or something close
- Strong written English with a good feel for tone and register
- A real instinct for what makes online communities thrive, and what quietly tips them over
- A track record of running social or community channels for a product, brand, or group
- Calm and empathy when people are frustrated or upset
- Familiarity with chat and messaging platforms (Fluxer, Discord, Slack, or similar)
Nice to have
- Experience with open source or volunteer-led communities
- Comfort with content creation tools (image editing, short-form video)
- A read on the chat/messaging space and where Fluxer sits in it
- Additional language skills beyond English
- Experience with community analytics and reporting tools
