Fluxer restricts access only where we believe a current legal requirement applies, and this page lists every restriction we currently apply. We follow legislative and court developments and update it whenever a restriction changes.
Fluxer will not require government identification, facial age estimation, biometric scans, or another invasive age verification method. Where a law can't be met without one, we restrict access in that region instead. We'd rather be unavailable somewhere than ask everyone for their passport or their face.
How we determine your region
We use IP geolocation to estimate your country and region when you connect. The lookup runs against a local MaxMind GeoIP database we query on our own infrastructure, so no per-connection request leaves it. Only the IP address is involved, no account identifier is attached, and the result decides only whether regional access rules apply. Section 3.2 of our privacy policy explains how we use approximate location.
IP geolocation can be wrong. Travel, VPN use, and unusual network configurations can make your connection appear to come from another region.
Current restrictions
Mississippi, United States
Fluxer is unavailable while your connection appears to come from Mississippi: you can't register, sign in, or use the service. An existing account and its data stay intact, and you can use it from a region where Fluxer is available.
HB 1126 (Walker Montgomery Protecting Children Online Act) requires age verification for every user and parental consent under 18, and in our reading covers a service with Communities and channels. The Fifth Circuit let it take effect in April 2025 and the Supreme Court declined to re-block it in August 2025, so it's enforceable while the constitutional challenge continues.
United Kingdom
You can register, sign in, and use Fluxer without adult verification. Age-restricted Communities, channels, and media are inaccessible unless you choose to verify that you're at least 18.
Adult verification is an optional $0.00 credit card authorisation through Stripe. Debit and prepaid cards aren't accepted, and the check unlocks nothing but age-restricted content. We're looking into alternatives for UK users without a credit card.
The Online Safety Act 2023, enforceable since 25 July 2025, covers user-to-user services including group communication. Part 3 requires age assurance for specific harmful content rather than for the whole service, so we restrict age-restricted content only.
Brazil
You can register, sign in, and use Fluxer, but age-restricted Communities, channels, and media are inaccessible and there's no verification option here.
The Digital ECA (Lei 15.211/2025), enforceable since 17 March 2026, bans self-declared age checks and requires auditable age assurance. We don't collect government IDs, biometric data, or CPF numbers, so we can't offer a compliant path.
Laws we assessed as not applying
Fluxer is a community chat app with no algorithmic feed, private friend lists, and no business in adult content, so several US age verification laws don't cover it. We don't restrict access under Tennessee (HB 1891), Florida (HB 3), Virginia (SB 854), South Dakota (HB 1053), Wyoming (HB 43), Ohio (ORC 1349.10, via HB 96), or Arizona (HB 2112).
Louisiana (HB 440), Arkansas (SB 396 / Act 689), Ohio (HB 33), Georgia (SB 351), Utah (SB 194 / HB 464), and Texas (HB 18) have been enjoined. We'll reassess if any of them take effect.

We acknowledge it promptly, a person reviews it while your account stays as it is, and we send you the outcome and our reasoning. You can put your point of view at any stage.
