If you mostly want more people to find your community, you don't need to be partnered. Any community can apply to list itself in Explore from "Community settings".
If you run the official community for a project, organization, brand or creator and want people to know it's the real one, you can get your community verified.
Partnered communities are communities on Fluxer.app that we work with directly. They're usually communities that have already been around for a while and plan to keep going, and that we think people who are new to Fluxer would enjoy finding.
What partnered communities get
- A partnered badge next to your community's name. A community that's also verified gets one badge that shows both.
- A gift code for 100 years of Plutonium for the community's owner. Plutonium works on Fluxer.app and needs an account in good standing, as our terms explain.
- Listing in Explore as soon as you apply.
- Once you're partnered, you can email us at partners@fluxer.com with any questions about your community or about Fluxer.
What we look at
There's no fixed bar for partnership, and we look at things like these.
- How long your community has been around and whether it's likely to last.
- What it's like to join, including whether new members can find the rules and someone says hello.
- How active it is and what people talk about.
- How well it's moderated.
- How the people who run it treat others in public, on Fluxer and elsewhere.
We decide case by case, and meeting these doesn't guarantee partnership. You can't buy partnership or verification, and buying Plutonium doesn't change our decision.
Partnered communities must follow our community guidelines and be safe for everyone 13 and up. We may turn down or end a partnership over conduct the guidelines allow.
Open source projects
We'd especially like to partner with and verify open source and free software projects. That includes Linux distributions, self-hosted software, privacy tools, data sovereignty and digital rights groups and the communities that have formed around them.
Fluxer is licensed under the GNU AGPL. We don't ask contributors to sign a CLA, and they keep their copyright. Your project can also run its own instance for free.
We don't ask these projects to leave Matrix, IRC, Discord, a forum or anywhere else they talk. We also don't ask you to add a Fluxer badge or link or to promote Fluxer.
Partnering with us or getting verified doesn't mean your project endorses Fluxer, and it doesn't mean that we endorse everything your project does.
How to ask
Email partners@fluxer.com with "Partner" and your community's name in the subject, like "Partner: Example Project". Tell us which community it is on Fluxer, what it's about and the Fluxer usernames of the people who run it, and link to where you are outside Fluxer.
A person on our team reads every request. If we decide not to partner with your community, we won't always explain why in detail. Please wait at least 3 months before you ask again, unless something about your community has changed a lot.
Staying partnered
You can change your community's topic or hand it to a new owner at any time. If you plan to, tell us first at partners@fluxer.com, and we'll decide whether the partnership continues. Our community guidelines don't allow buying or selling communities.
When something goes wrong, we'll usually contact you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. For serious problems, we may end a partnership right away.
If we end a partnership, the community keeps its Explore listing or verification, unless the problem affects those too. The owner can reply to our email and ask us to look again, and if we ended it under our guidelines, section 6.2 of our terms explains how to appeal.
If we change what partnered communities get, we'll email their owners first.
